Introduction
Hemp is also called cannabis, China hemp, and Kui hemp. It is an annual herbaceous plant, with swift growth rate, mature period of 4-5 months and the stalk height of 3-5m, and is widely planted or grows in Asia, Africa, America, Europe, and Oceania. It is not the same species as the evil female plant of marijuana, the psychoactive ingredient of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in hemp is less than 0.3%, so this plant can’t be used as raw material to produce drugs.
The industrial hemp is the foundation of characteristic agriculture and a “new emerging green industry” featured by long industrial-chain, wide product range, high-tech content, high additive value, social benefit, economic profit and environmental protection. The hemp bast fiber can replace cotton; hemp xyloid stem can make paper, cotton viscose fiber, wood-plastic building furniture, automobile inner decoration, activated carbon, and active carbon. Hemp root can produce biofuel as the energy for generation and life. Hemp leaves and flowers are used to pharmacy to cure difficult and baffling diseases. In B.C. 2737, Shennong, the ancient Chinese pharmacologist, used hemp to cure gout, beriberi, malaria, and rheumatism, opening up the history of using hemp in cure. Presently, America has adopted medicines extracting hemp leaves in curing magersucht and asthma caused by glaucoma and Aids and nausea caused by cancer chemotherapy and the sequel of apoplexy.
